Indian Medical Visa – Required Documents for Bangladeshi Citizens

Bangladeshi citizens travelling to India for medical treatment need to apply for a Medical Visa. The Medical Visa category includes M1 for patients and M2 for medical attendants. Applicants must submit the required medical and supporting documents along with the visa application.

General Requirements for All Applicants

✔️ Passport: Original passport with minimum 6 months validity from the date of visa application submission. The passport must have at least 2 blank pages.

✔️ Old Passport: Previous/old passports must be submitted with the application.

✔️ Photograph: One recent passport-size colour photograph (2×2 inch), full face with white background.

✔️ National ID / Birth Certificate: Copy of National ID Card or Birth Certificate, whichever is applicable.

✔️ Proof of Residence: Copy of any one of the following:

• Electricity Bill
• Gas Bill
• Landline Telephone Bill

The residence bill should not be less than 6 months old.

✔️ Proof of Financial Soundness: Bank statement for the last 6 months showing sufficient funds OR foreign currency endorsement equivalent to US$ 200 per applicant OR International Credit Card / Travel Card with deposit statement.

✔️ Proof of Profession: Depending on the applicant's profession:

• Government Order Copy – Government Employee
• Employment Certificate – Private Company Employee
• Business Registration – Self-employed
• Educational Institution ID – Student
• Retirement Papers – Retired Government Employee

Medical Documents

✔️ Medical Reports: Necessary medical documents supporting the illness/disease from a local doctor along with relevant medical reports.

✔️ Hospital Appointment Letter: Appointment letter from a Government / ICMR / NABH / MCI / CGHS recognized hospital in India.

✔️ Invitation Letter: Copy of invitation letter for Medical Visa.

✔️ Treatment Documents: Relevant diagnosis and treatment-related medical documents.

Medical Attendant

✔️ M2 Medical Attendant Visa: A medical attendant accompanying the patient may apply under the Medical Attendant category.

✔️ Passport and recent photograph.

✔️ National ID Card / Birth Certificate.

✔️ Proof of residence and financial soundness.

✔️ Relevant documents showing the relationship with the patient, where applicable.

✔️ For a minor patient, the patient must be accompanied by a parent or guardian as medical attendant.

Special Medical Cases

✔️ Organ Transplantation: Necessary clearance from the Ministry of Law and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) may be required for organ transplantation cases such as kidney or liver transplantation.

✔️ AYUSH Medical Visa: Applicants travelling for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha or Homeopathy treatment fall under the applicable AYUSH medical visa categories and require an appointment letter from an appropriately accredited/registered hospital or wellness centre.

The above list of documents is based on the current IVAC requirements. The High Commission of India reserves the right to request additional documents for processing the visa application.

Medical Visa applicants should travel to and receive treatment at the hospital for which the visa was issued. IVAC states that changing the designated hospital requires permission from FRRO.

Applicants should ensure that all information provided in the online visa application matches their passport and supporting documents. Incorrect information can result in rejection of the application.

For medical and medical attendant visas, registration with the nearest FRRO within 14 days of arrival in India is mandatory according to the IVAC document information.
